Russia Seeking to Attract Health Tourists from Muslim Countries

IQNA – The 15th edition of the Russia-Muslim World Economic Forum is going to kick off in Kazan, the capital of the Russian Republic of Tatarstan, on May 14.

One of themes of the event, officially known as the KazanForum 2024, is health tourism.

This is an indication of Russia’s keenness to attract health tourists from Muslim countries.

According to a report by IRNA, Halal health tourism has been launched in Russia for some time and is developing in the country.

In 2017, more than 300,000 foreign patients received medical treatment in Russia and the number grew to 1.2 million in 2022.

Statistics show that a large number of health tourists visiting Russia are from the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

People from the Republic of Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Tajikistan have shown the most interest in receiving medical services in Russia.

According to Russia’s Health Minister Mikhail Murashko, most of health tourists visiting the country seek medical treatment in the field of eye diseases.
